For topic 3 we were asked to discuss the ways in which one can create an authentic professional online profile. The main take-home lesson from this topic was that developing an authentic online professional profile is not an overnight achievement. It takes careful planning, maintaining and networking in order to create a successful profile. A good starting point is to create a LinkedIn profile, which is the most popular professional networking platform with over 400 million members (Statista, 2016). From that point onwards there are a number of tactics one could follow in order to optimise their “digital CVs”, ten of which I discussed in my blog post and applied myself. Finally, I found this topic linked nicely to topic 1 and 2, seeing as in order to create an authentic professional online profile, one must become more of a “digital resident” and maintain consistency across his different profiles.
